It’s Never Too Late To Re-Invent Yourself.

“SHOW MUST GO ON challenges many of the cultural stereotypes of older adults. This film beautifully depicts the creativity and passion these women are discovering and expressing through their connection with one another.”

Film Synopsis

Our story takes place in a retirement community in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. There we meet Jane, Karen, Mary, and Pat. These four friends have had many roles in life (housewife, mother, teacher, musician, adventurer) and discovered that each has made them the resilient woman they are today. Experiencing difficult transitions and loss they have each found a new beginning for themselves. Against the backdrop of preparing for the final show together, they reflect on their journeys of discovering their hidden talents.

  • Karen, the accompanist, and reluctant comedian finds her voice.

  • Mary, who has always been a committed wife, mother, grandmother, and teacher finds even more purpose in bringing joy to those in her community.

  • Jane, whose late husband always believed in her raw talent, discovers the courage to continue her adventures through performing.

  • Pat, who spent her life teaching her students and children to be independent embraces independence herself.

Scoring The Film

When approaching the music score, it immediately became clear that we are dealing with a very dynamic, multilayered film with parallel storylines surrounding the lives of these five women. Along with the joy of getting sucked into a snapshot of the everyday events of these performers is a universal message, not constrained by location, era, or personality. The word that kept coming to mind is “Transcendence”. We wanted to press into a universal connection to human emotion and imagination, allowing the inspiring message of hope and dignity the film evokes to shine through in the music.
